About Us
Hunter Valley Karate was established in 1983 by Shihan Trevor Trainor.
In 1994 Sensei Philip Penfold took up the role of Chief Instructor and operated the dojo for 14 years.
In 2008 the role was passed onto Sensei Daniel Langworthy who began running the four Maitland area dojos.
Sensei Langworthy has over 20 years of experience in karate including training in Kyokushin, Kensaikan, and Shukokai styles.
He has achieved great results at a national level in kata and non-contact sparring tournaments and also competed in the Australian full contact titles.
At Hunter Valley Karate, Sensei Langworthy and his fellow instructors, train hard, learn from each other and work at improving skills.
Having the opportunity to teach with like-minded individuals and families is both humbling and inspiring.
